Choosing Your Resort Destination with GolfTunisia.com
Each golf resort area in Tunisia is unique. If you are unfamiliar with Tunisia, the following descriptions are designed to help make your selection. If you are still uncertain, select ‘No Preference’ for your destination choice, and list your wishes in the comments box. MonastirMonastir-Skanes boasts a long stretch of white sandy beach, with two golf courses near the doorstep of most hotels, and two more a short drive away. Many hotels face the beach on one side and the golf course on the other. This is the quietest resort area of Tunisia, with the cities of Monastir and Sousse a short taxi ride away. It is ideal for those looking for good golf and a good nights rest rather than a late night out. Some of our featured hotels in this area are ‘all inclusive’ providing food and drink, including local alcoholic beverages. Two of Tunisia’s best courses are located less than 10 minutes from the hotels, and during busy seasons (March & November) are less crowded than the courses in other areas: Palm Links is right next to the hotels and has a full service thalassatherapy spa right next door to soothe the soreness after your round of golf. Flamingo Golf Club is located high on a plateau overlooking the sea with flamingos flocking to the flatlands below the course. Port El KantaouiPort El Kantaoui is a well developed resort and marina, with plenty to do at all hours day and night when you are not on the course. The 36 hole Kantaoui Golf Club has been a frequent host of the European Senior Tour. The marina offers a wide variety of excellent restaurants and other activities such as sailing and deep sea fishing. British, Irish and German pubs are scattered along between the marina and the adjacent town of Sousse. Port El Kantaoui is our first choice for golfers who want to literally walk to everything: Golf, hotel, marina and restaurants are all within walking distance of most hotels. Port El Kantaoui is also the most centrally located golf resort area, with 7 different golf courses less than an hour away. HammametHammamet is Tunisia’s most popular beach resort area. Three popular golf courses are nearby, and five more are less than an hour away. Yasmine Hammamet - an extension of the original resort - is Tunisia’s newest resort area, featuring many new 4 and 5 star hotels. The beach promenade, Carthage Land theme park, and Afriquia animal park offer plenty of entertainment for the family. Worth a DetourIn addition to the main golf resort areas listed above, there are three more places in Tunisia of special interest to golfers. While each area features only one golf course, they are good choices for short breaks and those looking to add a bit of golf to their beach or family holiday plans. DjerbaThis Mediterranean Island is designed for sun worshippers and party goers. It also boasts a 27-hole Martin Hawtree designed course and a golf hotel & resort that is officially recommended by the PGA of Europe. TabarkaThis quiet Mediterranean village, boasts one of the most picturesque golf courses anywhere. If you must take a Mediterranean holiday and want to play one of the best unknown courses anywhere, then this is the place to come. It is also possible to add two nights in Tabarka in combination with stays in other areas. Gammarth/CarthageGammarth is Tunisia’s most luxurious resort area. Best known for its luxurious spa hotels, the Carthage Golf Club is nearby. One of the oldest golf clubs in Africa, dating from the 1920’s, this is a private club with an active local membership. The beautiful town and marina of Sidi Bou Said and the nearby capital of Tunis make this a good base for a combined business and pleasure trip, or to simply relax and explore the history of ancient Carthage and the bazaars of the modern city of Tunis. The three courses of Hammamet are less than an hour away. Our first choice for a truly luxurious get-away-from-the-crowds golf break. |
